Dr. Mark Tsao

Dr. Tsao was born in Taiwan. When he was 12 years old, he and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Cerritos, CA. He graduated from Cerritos High School in 1996 as the valedictorian of his class and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland in 2000. He has always had an immense interest in the healthcare fields, but also harbored a passion for art and technology, so he ventured to the San Francisco Bay Area where he worked as a web developer and graphic designer. Although he found his work rewarding, he missed the close personal relationships and privilege of working on the human body that are unique to being a healthcare provider. After careful research, he decided on a career in dentistry and never looked back. In 2007, he graduated from UCLA School of Dentistry among the top of his class. He earned numerous awards for his academic achievements and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.

After graduation, Dr. Tsao pursued additional training by completing a residency program in general dentistry at the VA hospital in Long Beach, where he treated our nation’s veterans. Dr. Tsao then began his career as an associate dentist at several practices in Los Angeles County and Orange County, as well as in Northern California. In 2018, Dr. Tsao joined Chu & Yang Dental to work alongside Dr. Victor Chu, his long-time friend and classmate at UCLA. Dr. Tsao was drawn to Chu & Yang Dental because they share the same dental philosophy – they strive to build long-lasting partnerships with their patients that are based on honesty and personal, gentle dental experiences.

Dr. Tsao remains committed to honing his knowledge and skills by regularly attending continuing education courses and study clubs. He is a member of the American Dental Society, California Dental Society, and Orange County Dental Society. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
